My name is Bintu Conte and I believe that dance and movement can help us deepen the connection of our body, mind and spirit. I am an instructor, a coach, an artist, and a cultural worker who partners with individuals and communities seeking to heal through embodiment practices.
I do this through dance classes, workshops, and retreats.
In my work I center Traditional West African Dance, meditation, cypher processes, and other somatic practices to support connection and the cultivation of self awareness, self-care, self-healing, and community wellness especially in communities of color.
Join me and learn how to develop deep somatic/embodied awareness, to navigate shared connectivity, and to move more confidently and intentionally- embody your limitless body.
As an artist, I have partnered and collaborated with culture keepers nationally and internationally. I have also showcased her solo and ensemble works in San Francisco, Oakland, New York, Boston and Sydney. My approach to dance making is rooted in the body’s memories at the intersection of self and society.
Other projects close to my heart are serving as co-founder of the Racines Black Dance Festival and the founder of JAARA, Inc, a non-profit dedicated to the promotion, preservation and advancement of Afro-Diaspora arts and culture.
My vision of the world is one where we have true authentic relationships with ourselves, each other, and our natural environment; for we can find empowerment in our healed selves, and create a culture of nurturing inner change and collective liberation.
